I had to tuck in to enjoy this one because, Lindsay, you are my favorite voice on SS. You are so incredibly smart and your pulse on what is happening in the fashion industry is really realistic. I love all your predictions and I thought it was funny to see MK & A on your boho collage because following their inspo is probably the safest way to incorporate their vibe since we are all living in their quiet luxury world currently.

Oh my gosh, Kelly. You just made my year - thank you so much. You are one of *my* favorite voices on here! I’m so grateful to have connected with you! Are MK&A the most influential people in the fashion industry over the last two decades?! Dare I say…yes??

My magic 8 ball says “it is decidedly so” you’d have a hard time convincing me anyone else is!!

A worthy future newsletter topic I think!

I really enjoyed this!! I’m so far from a fashion expert however I own a luxury travel tour business so I see a lot. The lines around the corner day and night outside The Row in Paris tell me you are spot on re MK and A. My own pet peeve, as someone who travels the globe is bag charms. I secretly can’t stand them. I never want to add weight to the outside of my bags, especially with international airplanes baggage allowances. I couldn’t care less if anyone else in the word carries them, I just am tired of being marketed them. I prefer a cleaner look and all my belongings in my bag.

Thank you so much for the insight! I have to say it surprises me that even in Paris, home of Hermes, Chanel, Goyard, LV, Dior, etc. that The Row garners such attention. (But then again so did A&F once upon a time, although I’m not sure anyone has ever compared those two in the same sentence lol.) I’m so interested to see what happens with them and their latest investment! (Also I generally agree on the bag charms but I did buy a women’s collective-made black tote this year, with handmade tassels, and I have to say I love the little extra swish!) Thanks again for your comment!

This is genius and hilarious. I keep a Magic 8 ball on my desk at work and it’s a great conversation starter 🎱 I love these predictions- especially the accessory-ness of it all! I am cheering for sneakers, but I agree they may have reached their peak. This is so good Lindsay!!! ((Also I ordered that baseball card game so fast….⚾️)

Oh that’s such a brilliant idea! I’m stealing it. Ans I think the sneaker vibe is just shifting! Long live sneaks :) Enjoy the game - baseball 24/7 in my house 😂

Love you comments. Where the heck can you get wide whale cords. I need them.

This was such a great read! 2024 was the year I started wearing neckerchiefs a LOT and I agree, I think we'll see that trend continue. I also don't mind the mocha mousse thing... I know a lot of people find it a bit 'meh' but it does go with a lot of other colours so styled creatively, I think it could be done well (just not head-to-toe a la Skims. Snooze fest.)

Me too! I was never a bandana gal until this summer, and now I’m full in. And slowly expanding outward to the general scarf galaxy. Also agree on mocha (I’m a diehard camel fan), especially how it can pair with more pop colors…Cherry red and ice blue come to mind, plus gold and that matcha green!

What are your thoughts of the likes of stitchfix, and other online providers that curate a style on your behalf? It seemingly would ditch the need for front end malls and retail, no??

Great question! I’ll be honest, I’ve haven’t seen an example that’s curated someone’s personal style super successfully. As a merchant, I really believe in the mix of art and science, data and trusting your gut. And the gut part is hard to replicate via an algorithm. But I definitely think online shopping will get better and better at giving the consumer what they want, and retail will have to lean into customer service, experiential stores that make the customer feel something, and a great assortment (as always). Thanks for the great comment, Frankie!

Such good stuff here! I am SO INTO the matcha- that is the perfect antidote to all this mocha mousse xx

I loooove a camel I really do, but I’m already a bit tired of seeing taupe everywhere (because that’s really what it is, with a bit of a rebrand). Hoping there will be some fun color to balance it all!

Abercrombie is opening a new store within walking distance of me and I recently stumbled across a relatively new Claire’s store too. Mall brands are def doing well, but here (Chicago) they’re just not in a mall.

That’s so interesting, Phoebe! Claire’s! What a blast from my past! Faherty also has a really interesting retail strategy, where they could easily be in malls but have chosen to put themselves on streets with foot traffic. I hope that’s a trend that continues - we need more walkable shopping!

This was a great read. I’m glad heels are out because I never wear them, and I find myself very into the accessories trend. I loved that flower neck bow that Becky Malinsky was wearing in her last newsletter and I keep trying to figure out if I’d *actually* wear it. Probably not? But it’s so cute.

Thank you, Sita! She has really opened my eyes to how to wear accessories in a modern way - I often feel stuffy in my attempts. But I’m up for trying more in ‘25!
