Hi!

Last week was an interesting one. My clothes and I broke out of our daily routine and headed west for a few days. The outfits (and images) were a tad more relaxed than usual. (As was I! Thanks vacation!) I’m fully in summer mode now (even though I’m already back in the office, in the city, in the heat + humidity). But summer is a state of mind, right? Right??

Let’s rewind.

Monday, June 30

A preppy-ish look to prep for a busy Monday. The green top is Ulla Johnson (exact top here in a M from TRR) (similar shape here in a very fun year-round print) (and similar color here) which I wore with my COS barrel chinos. The whole look was a little bubbly, but it buoyed me for the beginning of the week.

Tuesday, July 1

Back to my basics. I had to go into the office in the morning, then visit a showroom at lunch, and then do a quick turnaround at home before heading to the airport. So my goal was buildable layers. I started with my 24/7/365 pants, the Nili Lotan Shon pants, which are so versatile and so comfy. This Frame blazer in a stretch cotton is a nice summer weight option (similar vibe here or here or here - Toteme, on sale!), and I layered it over a racerback tank because it was a million degrees with a million percent humidity, and I couldn’t handle anything heavier. (You can see the physical effects of a few hours in million percent humidity via my hair below.) I’m a big fan of suede loafers all year, but they’re especially great in the summer, I swear. These are mine (on sale, a few sizes left! More sizes and colors but not on sale here). I love these, too. And these.

Then, voila. Off came the blazer and loafers, on went my trusty men’s/unisex Gap sweatshirt (on sale!) over my shoulders and shearling Birkenstocks (with socks in my bag). A big milestone here: this is the first time I’ve worn “hard pants” (even though these are the softest hard pants you could wear) while traveling with kids. The last few years, I’ve only worn Lululemon fast and free leggings with the pockets on the sides, the better to shove tissues, hand sanitizer, and snacks into, but my boys are finally old enough that I felt like I could be a little less pack mule and a little more human traveler. Woohoo!
