Hi!
Summer was in full swing last week. We started with a heat wave in NYC that scraped the roof of 100 degrees, and we ended with a weekend at the pool, where my middle son faced his fears and finally figured out how to swim. His huge smile afterward was a reminder to keep doing hard things.
It’s not quite the same, but I’ve been trying to push myself slightly out of my sartorial comfort zone, because that’s where new ideas live. And new ideas are why we’re all here.
At the very least, there was a skirt this week!
Let’s rewind.

Of course said skirt was worn with a navy tee. (A tiger doesn’t change its stripes and all that.) Speaking of stripes,
suggests that the blue shirting stripe is a neutral, and I agree. Worn with my velvet navy mary jane (currently on sale!)). (Also available on sale in forest green and gold here.) I’m sad that the skirt is sold out in my size because it fits perfectly, feels great, and I would have loved it in the white.Tuesday, June 24
I was inspired to wear this outfit by
and the last look in her note below:I was also inspired by
and her fab post about summer shoes featuring the fisherman sandal. I’ve been waiting to wear these since I bought them on mega sale this spring, and was happy to break them out. (Try these or these, or these if you and The Row are a thing.)And while individually this is a great pant and an excellent oxford (which I have in many colors made from 100% organic cotton)), I didn’t love this look for me.
wrote a great post all about untucking your shirt, which for millennials is very hard to do (do hard things!), and she says the secret to untucked shirts is that we need to go more oversized than we feel is right. And she’s right. I think of this oxford as a relaxed boyfriend-style shirt, but this would have worked much better with a way more oversized shirt. Sogole recommends this one from Aerie!Wednesday, June 25
